This is a I - VI - II - V sequence.

The chords in the key of C major may be represented by numbers, as below.

Cmaj7 = VIII or 8

Bm7b5 = VII or 7

Am7 = VI or 6

G7   = V or 5

Fmaj7 = IV or 4

Em7  = III or 3

Dm7  = II or 2

Cmaj7 = I or 1

Try to make short phrases which are rhythmically similar. Listen to the examples then try to make a few of your own.
